Our favorite hotels in Mendoza

Mendoza is a wonderful side trip from Buenos Aires with amazing scenery and a thriving food and wine culture.  The easiest way to get to Mendoza is by plane, taking around 1.5 hours from Buenos Aires.  We recommend 3-4 days to take in Mendoza to be able to explore the different regions.  When planning a trip to Mendoza keep in mind that distances are big and many of the roads are single lane or dirt in some cases.  Our recommendation is to spend 1-2 nights in Mendoza Capital (the city) or in nearby Chacras de Coria and another 1-2 nights in the Valle de Uco with huge open landscapes with the Andes as a stunning backdrop.

Hotels in/near Mendoza Capital

Casa Glebinias – Located 15 minutes from downtown Mendoza, Casa Glebinias is in the relaxed suburb of Chacras de Coria which even has a few wineries located in town and several good restaurants.  The hotel is a series of small cottages set in a beautifully landscaped private park centered around the main house and a pool.  Book well in advance since this is a boutique property.

Park Hyatt Mendoza – The main reason to stay at the Park Hyatt is the location, which if staying in downtown Mendoza couldn’t be better, especially during the harvest festival.   The historic hotel has been updated and the hotel rooms are in a modern tower behind the original building.  Service is excellent and rooms are similar to standard business travel hotel rooms around the world.

Hotels in the Valle de Uco

Finca La Azul – This new guesthouse is located on the property of Bodega La Azul, which we always recommend for lunching at.  Finca La Azul is a boutique hotel in a sleek new building decorated with locally made woven rugs and wood stoves throughout.  The mountain views from the rooms are stunning and seeing the sunrise and sunset is awe-inspiring.

Tupungato Divino – Located very close to Finca La Azul, Tupungato Divino was one of the first hotels in the Valle de Uco.  Opened by two Buenos Aires born architects that got tired of the big city and moved to Mendoza, the hotel has comfortable rooms, great rates, very friendly service and a wonderful restaurant and wineshop.

Casa de Uco – This luxury resort hotel in the Valle de Uco is much more upscale than the other options we recommend in the Valle de Uco, but the stunning rooms, dining options and specially organized activity options make this hotel special.

Since so many of our Buenos Aires food tour guests visit Mendoza we are happy to send our full guide to the region to our clients.  Also check our some of our favorite wineries to visit in Mendoza and restaurants in downtown Mendoza.
